“Fold Chair” is a 3D printed dining chair produced by Xuberance, Shanghai. The chair is available in wood or four colorways: pink, yellow, green, grey. The shape of the chair is based on a continuous form, printed on its side using advanced recycled plastic polymers or recycled wood. The pattern continuously wraps around the billowing surface, doubly curved for structural stability.

The process begins with shredding plastic waste into granules. This is fed directly into the CNC robotic arm, which melts the material to create a recycled plastic filament that is then applied layer by layer to form the chair. Color is added during the printing process. The orientation and proportions of the 3D-printed lines define the behavior of the material and provide its distinctive ornaments.
